Group Disability (Short Term & Long Term)

Short-term disability covers a portion of an employee's income for a limited period, typically up to six months, following an illness or injury. Long-term disability takes effect after short-term disability ends and provides ongoing income replacement, often until the employee recovers or reaches retirement age.

The waiting period for short-term disability coverage is usually between 7 to 14 days after the disability occurs. For long-term disability, the waiting period typically aligns with the end of short-term coverage, generally around 90 days.
